RH | 5,250
Well, this is bigger news that it might seem--Mark Zuckerberg just released Llama 3.1, which is almost as good as all of the current, main models for companies like OpenAI and ClaudeGPT. However, Mark promised to completely open source the model, and when he dropped the model, he dropped it for open source download. This won't have an immediate affect since an 800GB+ model isn't going to be something you can run on your laptop, but imagine being able to spin-up your own ChatGPT with the best/near best model, and then be able to re-train it for your specific purposes. This could easily be a major change for AI integration into several companies. I'm not a fan of Mark for, well, practically anything else he's ever done but, IMHO, he's getting AI right. avatar! | 1,952
Gullible Trump Cronies Losing Their Minds Over Fake AI Slop on Twitter https://futurism.com/the-byte/trump-allies-fall-for-ai-slop The latest image appears to be a more classic example of oblivious pundits embarrassingly hitting share on fake news or misinformation, while failing to give it a more critical eye. It's especially appalling given the sheer scale of the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Appalachia. By spreading fake imagery of the disaster, Loomer and her media-illiterate peers are adding insult to injury — and not helping in any meaningful way. Very sad people have already started using AI tools for deceit, politcal gain, etc. And the fact that the software creates large resource use... Oof.
