DarkTone | 1,017
In September, I'm going to see an Internet personality, and there's rumours that certain people who make games might be there too. So I'm thinking of bringing something game related for them to sign BUT, I was also wondering, should I bring something for the Internet star to sign too. I remember someone on [NAME REDACTED] got Jontron to sign their N64 and some people got pissed. Whats your opinion on getting game related stuff signed by people who didn't have anything to do with it? Have you got something signed by an influencer? What if they did work on the game, but it was rare, or to each their own?

GPX | 1,416
Yeah I agree with Gloves, F what you want and do the haters. Personally, I don’t think a game influencer’s signature is going to make your item more valuable. Not unless maybe another 40-50 years time when they’re all dead or have dementia and can’t sign anymore. If you’re doing it as a cool personal memento, then I’d say why not?
Hammerfestus | 4,110
You do what you want with your games but if it were me there’s only a handful of those video guys I’d ever have any interest scribbling on a game for me and even then it would have to be something strongly associated with their franchise. AVGN signed Castlevania 2. Pat signed Danny Sullivan. Lord Karnage signed Truxton. Game Chasers signed Little Samson.
DefaultGen | 5,727
I had to pass on a nice CIB Big Rigs because it was signed over the full front of the box by some random Youtuber, and that isn't the most common game so it was kind of annoying. But there are like 30 million Nintendo 64s. Who cares if Jontron signs one?
MrWunderful | 2,932
To me, and influencer autograph will only ruin the game. Even AVGN, game chasers or whatever. Keep that crap off my games, sign whatever shit DVD of your hauls you are pimping out.

Brickman | 4,216
For me it would ruin the item. I don't really like signatures on items especially from some C grade YT video. The only two I'd be ok with is Miyamoto and Kojima signatures. But it is your item and you should do what works for you. 1
Hammerfestus | 4,110
So I’m wondering when answering this are you guys thinking of like your only copy is signed or… because I’m a duplicates kind of guy and I think there’s some novelty to celebrityish memorabilia.
Hammerfestus | 4,110
Oh Yeah and don’t let that Influencer language fly. It’s a rebranding of “minor celebrity” or “d lister” or whatever terms were in fashion previously for people with a fringe amount of followers. Part of the Great American Con. When I read the prompt in this thread, I was racking my brain for any "influencer" signature on a game that I would actually value, and this was the clear answer. I've never been interested in Truxton because of Sega or the developers or some forum recommendation - I'm interested in Truxton because Mark from Classic Game Room turned it into a meme and I think that's hilarious. Link | 2,887
I can't see any reason to have a signature from somebody on an item they weren't involved with creating. If an influencer appearing at an event doesn't have their own merchandise, (which is a missed opportunity on their part) bring an instant camera, take a selfie with them, and get that signed. imo.

twiztor | 923
i wouldn't mind a signed AVGN game for display purposes, but that's as far as i would go. Definitely wouldn't be my play copy- i would be afraid to wear the sharpie off the cartridge. i would love to get a copy of Mario or Zelda signed by Miyamoto. a sports/licensed sig (like @CIB_Wholesale's Tony Hawk above, or Mike Tyson on Punch-Out!!, or even Harrison Ford on an Indiana Jones game) would be fine too, but not something i'd seek out. OK, maybe the Tyson one. actually, getting both Schwarzenegger and Peter Weller to sign a copy of Terminator vs. RoboCop would be pretty cool. But none of these people are "influencers", so now i'm just rambling.

fcgamer | 5,020
People involved with creating the game I could see, or sporting guys like Tiger Woods or something. When we start getting into films and stuff though, I think it gets more tricky because how many actors dif Batman? How about minor rolls? Etc etc. Then the whole influencer crowd, ick, no thanks at all.
Tanooki | 5,145
That's my take on influencers and then media they're really not actually related to. To me, the example above, it's just a ruined copy of Smash Bros I wouldn't pay $5 for let alone when they somehow valued over $100.
