CodysGameRoom | 2,013
Supreme Court says Trump can weaken Obamacare contraceptive mandate The Supreme Court on Wednesday cleared the way for the Trump administration to expand exemptions for employers who have religious or moral objections to complying with the Affordable Care Act's contraceptive mandate. Women are now at risk to lose their contraceptive coverage. Such a dick move. 7-2 vote. Our Supreme court is a fucking joke.

FDR chose to do socialistic programs because Americans were beginning to see Capitalism and as a failure and Socialistic ideology was spreading. FDR created socialistic programs to calm the people dow and maintain capotalism because it was a way of appeasing the country with less than what they wanted. All that being said, I could care less about his motivations because his decisions created some of the greatest programs in our history. She does need some punishment but perhaps a fine instead of prison i don't know. It's kinda hard to quantify the exact severity of what she did, a police call isn't an automatic "game over" either a lot of times the police shows up and just defuses an argument/altercation. He also did those Japanese (no German ones strangely) interment camps and that 1937 attempt at packing the Supreme Court ("a switch in time saved nine") so he, like pretty much all Presidents, had his dark side too. I don't think I knew that was him with the intermittent camps. Like I said, he wasn't being altruistic, it was supposedly for self preservation of the ruling class. It was done apparently because we were so freaked out at the time about some of the Japanese in the US being in cahoots with the Empire of Japan or being spies or something...turns out among the internees (is that the right word, or even a word at all?) there was not even one. I guess the possibility of German Americans siding with the Nazis wasn't that big a deal?

I guess the possibility of German Americans siding with the Nazis wasn't that big a deal? He issued an executive order (9066) that established the camps - so it was largely on him. One really contradictory thing about that policy was that the Japanese in Hawaii were never put in camps - there were too many (to easily transport to the mainland) and Hawaii would not have been able to function without their presence. There were much smaller camps for some German-Americans and some Italian Americans - they were much more selective about who went in those - largely because the Federal government had been monitoring (and broken up) Axis sympathetic groups* before the war. So a lot had been put in prison. And the government thought they had a handle (the Japanese were perceived as being more unnkown in that regard) on who was doing what in those groups. *The largest was the German American Bund. Their referencing Washington (and use of the flag) was just an attempt at propaganda - they had no god/symbols other than Hitler and Nazi ones. There was another pro Nazi group called the Silver Legion of America that was broken up on the outbreak of the war,

FDR was a great military president, but a horrible economic and domestic policies president. FDR’s tactics actually extended the Great Depression. He basically established price fixing on goods and made it a crime to charge prices below floors. He also prevented entry into business markets and created the disaster that is Social Security, the biggest pyramid scheme ever. Many of government budgetary issues and overreach into the free market were inspired by his actions. This doesn’t even get into the internment camps he set up. The four presidents I blame most for our current country’s situation are Woodrow Wilson, FDR, Richard Nixon, and Ronald Reagan. Each one has contributed in some way to America’s current state of affairs.

I would argue that the FDIC was a good idea and helped instill confidence with banks and was critical for recovery as well. We were in the Great Depression largely because of unregulated capitalism. Also, tax cuts have one of the weakest returns on Government spending partially dependent on the type of cut. I do blame the Reagan administration for much of where we are at today though. Edited July 10, 2020 by Californication
