Nes Freak | 586
so after many years of play i decided to get my genesis non tmss va3 model 1 out and recap it. the console worked fine but i felt like recapping it anyways. 4 hours and 40 japanese branded capacitors later i had a recapped system  pain in the arse to do just fyi. but as i was doing it i noticed 10 of the 40 caps were leaking slightly. i recapped my game gear too a year back  i haven't touched my nes n64 snes atari 2600 snes jr etc maybe its time to recap them all considering the age? what do you all think? phart010 | 1,779
Some consoles are more well know for needing to be recalled than others. I would recap a console if it’s known to need it
serge85 | 1
Of course, all caps will fail, so better to do it and future proof your console
Dr. Morbis | 2,120
Only the NEC consoles really need it done right away (PCE, DUO). My PC Engine was making really scratchy audio noises, but replacing all the caps fixed it right up...
