Tabonga | 2,533
I am always impressed when people come up with ideas to repurpose structures into homes - be they missle silos, airplanes, railroad cars or lighthouses. (I think of it as the ultimate in recycling.) A few miles from my abode there is a duplex that started life as a large concrete water storage tank that was used by a long defunct water district. At some point in time someone bought it and converted it to living space. It has very thick walls (5' or so IIRC) and a good chunk of it is underground. A long time ago I read an interview with then people who did this with it - their biggest single expense was paying someone with a diamond blade saw to cut the doors and windows. Because of the thick walls and being mostly underground it is extremely energy efficient all year round. https://www.liveurbandenver.com/posts/live-in-this-converted-water-tank-duplex-and-own-a-piece-of-lakewood-history Any repurposed houses in your area?
