rdrunner | 445
Here's a little game I like to play: What is your favorite NES game for each letter of the alphabet? Some basic rules: Titles are flexible (ex: The Legend of Zelda could count as either an "L" or a "Z"). Digits can count as the 27th "#" letter (ex: 1943, 8 Eyes). Have fun! This sometimes comes up as I look over my modest collection. Should I keep at least one game for each letter? Do I like enough games to justify doing so? My answers to these questions tend to shift over time. Anyway, here's my current list, which tends to change constantly: 1943 Adventures of Bayou Billy Bionic Commando Castlevania Double Dragon Excitebike (by default) Final Fantasy Gradius Heavy Barrel (The) Immortal Jackal Kung Fu (The) Legend of Zelda Mega Man 1 Ninja Gaiden Operation Wolf (because it's NOT Orb 3D) Punch-Out Q*Bert Rush'n Attack Super Mario 3 Tecmo Super Bowl Uncle Fester's Quest Vice: Project Doom Wrecking Crew Xexyz (another tough letter) Yoshi Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link

Red | 453
3-D World Runner Amagon Bubble Bobble, I guess. Hard to choose. Castlevania Dragon Warrior II Excitebike, I guess. Only "E" I've played, but I don't think I've spent more than 10 minutes with it. Final Fantasy Guardian Legend, The Hogan's Alley Immortal, The, I guess. I don't think it's all that great, but I don't see any better choices. Jaws Kirby's Adventure Legend of Zelda, The Magician, I guess. Several good choices here. Hard to decide. Nightmare on Elm Street, A Orb-3D, I guess. Not crazy about it. I should give Operation Wolf a try. Pin Bot QIX, even though I've never played it on NES (I like it on Game Boy). Not choosing Q*Bert. RC Pro Am Super Mario Bros Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Ultima IV, I guess. Never played it, but it looks like fun and I'm not choosing Urban Champion. Vice: Project Doom Werewolf, I guess. I could easily pick a different one. Xexyz Yoshi Zelda II: Adventures of Link

Gary Hobbesworth | 20
It's nice to see so many mentions of Vice Project Doom, that game was criminally overlooked due to its late era release date but it's one of the most solid action games on the system. I just based this off my existing top 100, but had to throw in some odd ones for the rare letters (I'm surprised how uncommon E is, I only had one game with that letter): Arkista's Ring Batman (The Movie) Castlevania 3 Dragon Quest II Esper Dream 2 Felix the Cat Gimmick! Haha I was waiting for the first person to come storming in and say there are more titles that start with 'Q' and 'V'. Looks like it only took, like, 30 minutes or something. I do genuinely like Vice: Project Doom, and Xexyz is one of my favorite NES games, so I guess it just didn't occur to me that it's more of an obscure title. Your list was a lot of fun, by the way, with those Famicom titles thrown in here and there. -CasualCart

X is the letter that always stumps me. I think there are only like 4 games total? Xexyz is ok, but it's kinda all over the place. Xenophobe and Xevious are simple arcade ports, and then there's X-Men, which is much debated about whether it qualifies as a real game. Vice Project Doom is great. I haven't pulled the trigger on a physical copy, $$. Your drawing, lol. I didn't even pick Q*bert. I used Kabuki Quantum Fighter for Q. X was much hard to pick a title for me, I ended up with Xexyz. I don't even know if I am recalling the correct game from memory.

It's a pretty sadly underrated game, it holds up much better than a huge chunk of the action games from the NES library. Plus the boss fights were so cool.
