Great finds all around btw Not much of a story. I got it from a guy that has sold me a bunch of stuff in the past. He had a big collection but has been downsizing over the past few years. When he told me about the sign he said "My buddy got it from a GameStop up in Saugus Massachusetts, where he lives and where I used to live." So his buddy was the first owner, eventually he bought it from his buddy, and now I'm the 3rd owner.
MiamiSlice | 3,155
After a long spell of finding almost nothing to speak of, finally had some good fortune again. Here's some recent hunts: Got this Disney Princess / Tangled sealed double pack for about $30. It's my second one. It isn't mint but considering these only pop up a few times a year I wasn't going to pass it up. Hoping to swap it for another double pack I don't have. This one is really special. It's not often something pops up that you didn't even know existed. This is a USA release, the same product known as the Wide Boy in Japan, but this one is called the View Boy. It's complete and like new with paperwork and even the baggie. There's not much info about it online, but with some sleuthing I found a few hits, including a tweet from the revamped Sunsoft brand on Twitter showing a few items they pulled from their warehouse: Also found some past local auction listings (not just eBay) as well as a few mentions in magazines. Otherwise, it's not on Console Variations. Anyway, I paid about $50 and it's staying with me
MiamiSlice | 3,155
Some new hauls Finally found this bundle sealed with the cards for $21.31. These used to be easy to come by but now I hardly see them. Bought a few games in a bundle on eBay at a pretty good price and one game in the bundle was this Dexter's Laboratory Deesaster Strikes! I figured it was worth getting because this is the USA-1 revision: The original cart had a game breaking bug that is fixed in this version. It's not super valuable, there's a few sitting on eBay as we speak, but still a cool find. And lastly: I have no idea what happened here, this is a standard edition release of Fragrant Story for 3DS that was listed for $3, I saw the fresh listing, bought it, and the seller shipped it out to me no questions asked. Did they maybe intend to list it for $30??? Whatever, I'm happy to have it. 3
MiamiSlice | 3,155
OK I bought these two as soon as I saw them listed. I don't know much about Sachen or if these are rare, I just couldn't find any comps nor had I seen these specific releases before, and usually the loose carts are listed for $30 or more so it seemed like it was worth taking a gamble on these. Did I do good? Or was this a bad buy? Edited Tuesday at 01:49 AM by MiamiSlice

Did I do good? Or was this a bad buy? I'd say that wasn't a bad buy. That seller originally had a lot of stuff listed for considerably more than what I would pay, but they have been dropping their prices over time. Loose carts for those can be had for relatively cheap (provided you are in a place that has them), but boxes are hard to find, and these aren't the usual variants I see of these. You might need a DMG or Gameboy Pocket for the 4 in 1. Earlier print runs of those do not work on GBC and GBA. Analogue Pocket also works with those in my experience. The 8 in 1 should have colorized versions of the old games and should work on anything if my understanding is right. Of the games on the ones you got my personal favorite is Dan Laser

When it powers on I see the Game Boy logo with Sachen underneath but then it doesn't proceed past that point. I tried cleaning the pins, I tried it on different Game Boys... nothing. Any ideas? I also cannot open the cart, it doesn't have a screw like a Game Boy cart would.
MiamiSlice | 3,155
Also @fcgamer and any other Sachen aficionados: I have not seen this Knockout 4-pack before. Has anyone else seen this specific release?

Some of those are able to mask custom boot logos which some models of Gameboy do not like. If my memory is right Gameshark does not work for that but Magic Editor Cards by Yobo do. Also, you probably shouldn't open it. I'm pretty sure its held together by fragile pins and uses globs so it wouldn't be easy to repair As for if I've seen these releases outside of that shop, no I have not. These are both HES variants of Sachen games that got widespread releases but this artwork seems rare. I don't check Australian shopping sites often though, so maybe if you did some digging around those you could find more

The backside shows it was for distribution in Australia and Germany.

I have no idea how many different art variations were available for these, as that's a rabbit hole I personally don't want to go down, but these are definitely older / rarer box variants of standard cartridges. For example, the knock-out cartridge is the same as the first 4 in 1 cartridge Sachen did, the contents anyways. I suspect that these were really early releases of these games, hence the unique box art. I've seen the same art before, though it might have been from the same guy where you grabbed these! Regarding how you did, I agree with your rationale, I think the price is more than fair considering they are both boxed and Sachen games are arguably rare compared to the production numbers on licensed games. Then throw in that these are alternative, not as common box variants and I think it's a great score.
