  1. I wanted to share some stuff from my collection with all of you. I'll be posting things here over time instead of all at once. Please comment on what you think and maybe point out some things I might be missing or would want to add to my collection. I don't have my own space right now, had to give my game room to my second son almost ten years ago, so my whole collection is packed away in a tiny four square foot closet. And it's packed floor to ceiling. So this is a fun way for me to 'display' and share! Enjoy! First up is my Lunar collection. Thought this would be great to show off at the top here, seeing as I have a Lunar 2 avatar that I've used forever. These pictures didn't turn out super great, I might re-take them if I ever have time to dig all this stuff out again. The Sega CD versions of these games are my favorite. Maybe it's nostalgia because I played them first, but I really think they are more fun to play and I like the older style of graphics (the animated cut scenes blew my mind back in the day). Don't get me wrong though, I love the re-makes too. Many years ago now I bought those two Japanese Mega CD and three Saturn games on eBay for almost nothing. I didn't get the mpeg versions on Saturn because I remember they weren't very cheap. I don't recall why I didn't get the Japanese Playstation versions, seems like I should have. Up in the right corner is the Ghaleon boxing puppet, has was a pre-order bonus, everyone has him so he got mostly cropped out. There's an Alex puppet apparently, but impossible to get. You can see I've got two each of the US Complete versions on Playstation. Well not quite, the first one is the actual retail release and the second one is an empty retail display box: These displays are very cool, as you can see they have different artwork on the back. I forgot to open the front flap for the pictures, I think that it has different text about the game printed under there. I will try to remember to update next time I get them out. Also the Lunar 1 boxes are the same size, the Lunar 2 display is the same size as the Lunar 1 display, so significantly smaller than the final retail version. Here are some guides and the portable games. I didn't realize until today that my Lunar 1 Complete guide had gotten discolored on the front cover, it was fine on the back cover and inside though. I'd also like to get the Sega CD versions of the guides someday. I don't have the Japanese version of Dragon Song (Lunar Genesis) or the PSP game, but I feel like I'd gotten past buying games that I couldn't play properly at this point in my collecting. Plus Lunar Dragon Song was so bad I didn't want a second copy. At some point I'd like to get a CIB Lunar Magic School on the Japanese Game Gear. I don't remember exactly how I got this demo disc. I think it was a pre-order bonus, but I'm not 100% on that. It's great that I have it though. Aside from the Japanese Saturn and Mega CD games I'm the original owner of all these games. I even still have the receipt for Lunar 2 on Sega CD: There are still plenty of things still left for me to collect for Lunar. Like if I win the lottery (which I don't play anyway) I would get all the disc variants. There are guides, posters, the Japanese GG game, Japanese manga, art books, and soundtracks that I could go after. And if I see them out and about I'd snag them up, but I don't like collecting via eBay very much. Oh, I do have one of the posters for mailing away directly to Working Designs, but it's in one of many poster tubes right now. I remember it's for one of the Complete games, but I haven't looked at in so long I don't even remember which one it was. I have played them all (didn't finish Dragon Song though) and I love this series. I haven't played them through in many years now, I may have to set aside some time for that.
  2. I really was like, "Deja vu, how was this posted just two hours ago?" Oh, LOL!
  3. Gave it a 2. Ask my kids though and they will say it's the best game ever. Despite them begging, I wasn't going to let them ever play, but then I figured I was depriving them of a childhood gaming zeitgeist they will remember forever. I can't stand the business model and I hate that I have to tell my kids 'no' all the time. "No son, $20 is not a good deal for a skin." I've bought them Save the World and Battle Passes, which in my opinion should be the only things for sale, after that it seems predatory.
  4. Today's the day! For digital anyway. Who isn't waiting for physical and is playing already? I'm going to try and wait out for the physical... must have willpower...
  5. Here's the first episode of LRG's 'retrospectives' by Jeremy Parish. I'll probably keep watching these, but man this game lost my attention quick.
  6. I like pickles and that cheeseburger pizza looks great. I ordered the cheeseburger omelette at IHOP once... ground beef, pickles, onions, tomatoes, mustard, and ketchup. I was so gross, never again.
  7. Gave it an 8. The influence of this movie can't be denied. Most especially on Japanese anime and games created in the years after it's release. I first saw this when I was really too young to fully get it, but It was sci-fi and had Han/Indy. Every time I revisit it I like it even more, and now there is the awesome sequel movie to enjoy. What version do you guys prefer? I know I'm in the minority here, but I actually prefer the theatrical version. Mainly for the narration voice over, it makes it feel more like an old detective movie. I know the director hates it and people say the performance was phoned in, and maybe for me it's nostalgia, but I do miss it when watching the other cuts.
  8. Same. I think I saw on their Twitter that the ones with the Genesis calm shell case aren't shipping till the fall.
  9. Tell me about it. Want doesn't equal will get though. I mean, I have all the Monkey Island's on physical PC (even the Tale Tell one), but if this anniversary one is really something special I could see adding it to the collection. I thought I wanted Blaster Master Zero 1 & 2 from them, but then decided not to get those.
  10. So many I'm going to want... Bloodstained Curse of the Moon 2 Castlevania Anniversary collection Shante Grandia HD Collection The Mummy Demastered Monkey Island 30th Anniversary Also I'm going to look into Katana Zero, The Friends of Ringo Ishikawa, and River City Girls 0 to see if those will be worth getting. I'd have put Y's Origin on my list, but I already got their CE for the PS4, it was my first LRG purchase, and I'm talking my self out of double dipping.
  11. Putting this here for folks that don't check in on the Limited Run Games thread over in General Collecting. Limited Run Games announced they are doing the physical copies of Bloodstained Curse of the Moon 2 for Switch and PS4, date to be determined. Also Bloodstained fans would probably like to know they are releasing Castlevania Anniversary Collection for Switch and PS4, Q3 2020!
  12. Almost exclusively do I want to watch the song with the music video. Also, yay for the cute girls.
  13. Gave it a 2. I tried it out back then just based on the hype and found nothing that appealed to me. Never tried another GTA till 5, and it still wasn't for me.
  14. It's not uncommon to 'convert' the standard inventory to some kind of bundle at the store level. Stores did it all the time during the XB360 generation; open the regular version of the console, insert a promo game, reseal box, apply accompanying sticker or sleeve, new holiday bundle created! I can't be certain that's what happened to that GBA SP though.
  15. Yeah I was so excited about the headphone jack I missed the bit about November.
  16. I'm interested in seeing a "new" Romero film. That it was hidden away for so long makes it even more appealing. That's certainly not something that happens very often.
  17. I have very fond nostalgic feelings for the original Metroid. I think it's still so strong in my memories because the levels of frustration and joy were so high. I'd be so frustrated at being lost forever, only to finally figure something out and be over the moon with joy to progress again. I'd made my own maps on graph paper too, but I lacked the fore site to keep them. I give it a nine, despite its frustrating flaws, it was a masterpiece in it's time. It's only hard to revisit now because it's sequels (Super Metroid in particular) and remake fixed/refined so much. In modern times though, if I was playing Metroid for the first time, I wouldn't have the time or patience that it would require to fully appreciate it. Thank you, twelve year old me, for making those memories!
  18. I'd gotten the first Curse of the Moon digital on PS4 as a backer reward. Then I got the physical one in the NES style box from LRG for the Switch. Sure I double dipped, but I at least it was for two different platforms. I've justified double dips on games for much more than $10, so this is a no-brainer for me. Get the PS4 digital (if it is only $10 again), play it sooner and get some trophies, then get a physical Switch (hopefully a NES style package to match the other) for the Nintendo collection. I'm not in the habit of double dipping, but if it's a series I love I will do it for sure. Grow my collection and support games that I want them to make more of.
  19. Same, this made my day. Now if they would just announce Ritual of the Night 2! If Konami ain't going to bother making the real deal anymore, I'm fine with this series being my replacement Castlevania.
