  1. Great read, Lynda. I'm a pretty big Garfield fan myself. Garfield and Friends was top tier Saturday morning and I still read the old school books now with my kids. Well, the first 25 books or so. My daughter is super into it right now while my son who's a little older has moved on to Calvin and Hobbes. I also have the Garfield Minus Garfield book, it's... disturbingly funny and I love the fact that Jim Davis chose to publish it. It doesn't seem like it was made out of spite for Jim Davis ruining Garfield but I could be wrong. For me, it's more about laughing at (or relating to) Jon's crippling loneliness and depression. Certainly not for everyone but I find it darkly sophisticated.
  2. I ate the Arby's pork sandwich because of their ads like a week before the McRib announcement camedown. I know it's "real meats" and all, but honestly I prefer the McRib. The Arby's sandwich was too dry.
  3. Oh, I make mistakes and cut through at least one critical piece on every pumpkin. If it's bad and falls through, I'll use a toothpick to stick it back on. This was the first year the thought occurred to me that I should thin out the backside before carving. After I was done if course. This year's pumpkin was particularly healthy and had very thick walls. I usually have to carve the whole thing then go back over it to widen out the backside cuts using obtuse carving angles so the light shines through nice and bright. It takes forever.
  4. 1222 I coulda gone either way with Slayer and FF. Love me some Cars and hate me some Incubus. Though that song is one of their more ok tunes. Cranberries is good but there's something about that Wallflowers song... Been had that CD since it was released. Don't feel too strongly either way about Avenged or Imagine. Bat Country would've won me over though.
  5. You owe it to yourself to try it. It's definitely a sweet sauce but has a good tang to it. Supposedly the last hurrah for the McRib.
  6. Gotta go with @bag. I'm mostly jealous of everyone who can do the reductive sculpting. For me, everything needs to be cut out of the pumpkin.
  7. I think I missed this one because I intend to play it but still haven't got after it. So I'm in the haven't-played-but-interested camp. Maybe I'll ask for it for Xmas. I assume it's good though. There's not really any bad 2D Metroid games. Mildly interested in the 3D offerings but I have a hard time getting into 3D games these days.
  8. Nope. Just the cheap carving kits. My favorite tool is the tiny saw. I'm tempted to use my Dremel but I'm afraid of the potential mess.
  9. Gotta give it a 10. And I'm not a Super Nintendo guy. But there are certainly a few truly great games on the system and Metroid is in the top 3 somewhere. Metroid, Zelda, and Mario are pretty interchangeable for the top slot on SNES. Super Metroid is uniquely atmospheric in a way few other games achieve. I might throw DOOM and a couple others on that list.
  10. I hear you on the price. I just happened to have too much extra cash on hand when they did the "one last run" bs. I really like their products but can't justify the premium. I'll hang on to my Super NT but I'm pretty much steering clear of Analogue from here on out.
  11. The big draw for me is that the NT has the capability to run a bunch of other system cores. 2600, Intellivision, GB, GBC, Genesis, and Master System. Maybe a couple others. Unfortunately, I don't really have the time or patience to put that all together. I did the jailbreak and added all the NES/FC roms to it but then got a little overwhelmed when I was starting on Genny. I reset it back to factory though. If nobody is all that interested, I may get back after it. Not quite to that point yet though.
  12. Man, the scoreboard was super cool. Really wish that was something we could migrate to VGS.
