  1. Mandatory language in all online sales: "No low balls. I know what I have."
  2. I agree that competition is good and I was happy when WATA first started because they looked good ON PAPER. However, in practice, I don't think they have had a much of a positive impact on the hobby that we were hoping they were going to have.
  3. That's about what I would expect. However you go about selling those games, good luck with the sales. I saw a few of your listings here and you have some pretty nice stuff for sale. I wish I would make some offers on some of it, but I'm not sure I'll be buying too many games in the near future.
  4. If you had said MGS4 was a long movie with bits of gameplay thrown in every once and a while, I would have agreed with you, but they way you worded it makes no sense to me. All cut scenes are fully skippable and then you get straight back to gameplay. I've played through that game probably a dozen times. The first time through I watched the cutscenes, but ever since then I've always skipped them. As per just about any Kojima game, the story itself is pretty "meh" to me, but the gameplay is truly amazing. I completely understand that Kojima cutscenes are too much for many people (myself included), but I don't see a reason to enjoy the game any less since you can just skip them. Interesting note. The cutscenes in MGS4 can also be paused (first MGS game to do this that I know of), which is really nice if you actually want to watch the cutscenes, but also need a bathroom break halfway through. )
  5. Since Facebook Marketplace is designed for selling locally, it's probably going to vary by area. In my experience, Marketplace is a great place for buying and selling bigger items that are more difficult to ship, and therefore better suited for selling locally. This includes things like cars, furniture, and large tools. However, for smaller items that are simple to ship, I tend to avoid Marketplace because it's simply easier and usually cheaper to look at places that sell nationwide such as eBay. That's not to say you can't make it work, but in my area, all video game related posts are super overpriced, and if I'm going to spend that kind of money, I might as well get the buyer protection that I get from eBay or Amazon. I'm not sure that I've ever had a successful purchase or sale of video game related items on Marketplace, but I've bought and sold tons of larger items (primarily tools) this way with a lot of success.
  6. I prefer cartridges to discs as well, but there are other downsides to them. Because they are more expensive to produce, the game publishers ultimately look for ways to cut costs, and we end up with game "collections" that only have one game on the cart and the rest end up being digital downloads.
  7. I did not realize that Dirt 5 was already being released. I'll be looking forward to that one. I love that series.
  8. That's perfect timing. I was just thinking about giving Sunshine a try (for the first time ever).
  9. I have two consoles, probably two dozen games, and a crap load of different style controllers and accessories for it. I enjoy playing some of the games, but admittedly most of the good games are available on other consoles. I had a friend who bought one right after the initial price drop and I was pretty jealous of him at the time. However, once the PS1 game out and I got one, I knew I had the better console. Road Rash, Need for Speed and PO'ed are great games that lots of people talk about. However, one that I hardly ever hear anyone mention is Casper. That game is a lot of fun and the graphics have aged pretty well. It's also a simple enough game that the controller doesn't hinder it the way it does with other games like PO'ed. Am I glad I own the console? Yes. Would I buy it with today's prices? No. These pictures are NOT my collection, but from one of the more insane collections I've ever seen. These pictures aren't even the tip of the iceberg.
  10. It's definitely a concern I have. In a perfect world, all of these companies would turn every digital game into a physical game, but in reality, it seems like there are too many companies right now to sustain themselves and I fear a crash might be in our near future. As a person who only buys games that I'm interested in, this won't have a negative impact on me, but for the many people I see on social media who are basically planning their future around these games as an investment, it makes me feel a little sick.
  11. If it's true, it must be brand new news because up until recently, they had announced that the backwards compatibility was roughly equal to what the Xbox One was able to do, which was about half or less.
  12. You are never going to see huge leaps in graphical detail between generations anymore. The leap from PS1 to PS2 was the last major leap we will ever see. The leap between PS2 and PS3 was pretty small, and PS3 to PS4 was even smaller. We've hit the point of diminishing returns. There are still lots of improvements that can be made, but I never expect to be wowed anymore the way I used to be years ago.
  13. While I'm not interested in this at all, I agree with others that the case design looks very good. If nothing else, I would think they might be able to make some money selling replacement/custom cases for the N64. Depending on the price, I would consider getting an empty case.
  14. I'll put it another way, the response was no more rude than the OP. You can take that however you want, but regardless, the response was very fitting.
  15. I never said his OP was rude. I said the response to it was in kind, which it was.
  16. Sorry, but nothing compares to "HEY YOU GUYS!!!!"
  17. I would be interested in reading this as well. I've always heard their laws protect people from canceled products or products that don't work as described, but not from people changing their mind, which is clearly the case here. If you re-read your original post, you will see that he responded in kind.
  18. Not sure on current price. I was lucky enough to get mine before VAT had to be added to the price, so they are a little more expensive today. Expect somewhere around $200 USD. They can play every official Jaguar cart game through an SD card. Many of the homebrews work as well, but some were programmed to only work through the Skunkboard. I believe the plan is to get all of the homebrews to work through it eventually. Also, the original plan was to get the CD games to work as well. Unfortunately, this didn't work out for the initial release, but he didn't want to hold up the release any longer just to play the mostly underwhelming CD games. It's still possible this will work with an update in the future. This is the same guy who made the GameDrive for the Lynx and Neo Geo Pocket Color, and his work is fantastic.
  19. Have you looked into the Jaguar GameDrive by Retro HQ? They are slowly starting to catch up with demand, so getting one should be a little easier sometime soon. I was able to finally get mine last week. As much as I love Krikzz's work on his Everdrives, the Retro HQ products are a step above.

All things considered, that seems like a pretty decent launch lineup. It's not the type of launch lineup that would make me buy one on day 1, but it seems like the type of launch lineup that would get the majority of modern gamers to buy on day 1 (which is sort of the point).

I definitely understand the request for the name change. The original names looks like a pretty obvious attempt to make their products look like first party branding. But I'm not understanding what they were trying to sell. Were these supposed to be customized replacement faceplates? If so, that would have been pretty cool to have as an option.
  22. Could be worse. I'm at nearly 6 years on Justice Beaver.
  23. SMB 2 was the first game I beat that didn't reset back to the beginning for you to play again. For some reason, I felt that if I reset the game, I might miss something. We left the NES on overnight to see if anything changes (like Mario waking up), but the next morning he was still sleeping.
  24. It's not the best system and it's not even the best system from it's generation, but it's absolutely worth checking out. If you are from the US, most PAL games will run fine on it, which really opens up the library. Also, if you aren't using the Japanese version, I highly recommend installing the FM sound mod. I believe that might have been the first console mod I ever installed. Overall, I give it a 7.
  25. Yeah, I'm in the group who saw it when they were a kid and I loved it. I've seen it as an adult, although it's been a while and I still enjoyed it. It's a 9 for me.
