I guess I can understand why people didn't like the Wii U design, but I thought it was great. I loved playing games on the tablet. I could be chilling on the couch playing games while still hanging with my wife and kid while they watch TV. To me, it was like a new Nintendo portable, but with a bigger screen and better games. My only gripe was that I couldn't take it anywhere in the house. The Switch is really just the full realization of the vision they had for the Wii U, I believe.

I'd say the Wii U. Some great games and I loved playing on the tablet, but I guess the Switch kinda makes the Wii U obsolete in that regard.

Beat the SNES Library - 310/714

Took care of John Madden Football '93. Blazed through the playoffs with San Francisco, and handled Houston 52-20 in the Super Bowl (pardon me, the John Madden Championship Game). -

Did a playoff run on John Madden Football with SF. Beat KC in the Super Bowl 42-21. Not bad for my first time ever playing this version. Pretty weak ending though. Just shows some fireworks until you hit Start, then it's back to the main menu. Not even a "Congratulations" from Madden, he just keeps rambling about game strategies -
Haha great to see Air Fortress getting some love here. I never usually see anyone talking about that game, I thought maybe I was the only person who liked it.

Sonic 2 for me I have no problem getting to the end of the game, but getting through that mecha-Sonic and then the giant Robotnik robot without any rings is always too much for me. I just never figured out the right strategy to get through without getting hit.

40 is old? I'm actually in this same exact situation so this thread helped me out as well haha

If you're playing a game in your home for your own enjoyment, then there's no such thing as "cheating." I remember when I found the Debug Mode in Sonic 2, I started having so much fun screwing around with that, I gave up on trying to beat the game proper. But I was having fun, which is the whole point of playing games to begin with. I would never pretend that I've actually beaten the game though, even though I've seen the ending a billion times. That said, if you're in a contest, challenge or competition with other people, obviously there are going to be rules, and breaking the rules would of course be cheating.

Beat the SNES Library - 310/714

I used to be stupidRobot on NA, but I hadn't been on there for like 5 years or so. I had actually forgotten about it until I found this challenge and I was like, "I've done this before" -

And, finished Flashback. Man, this game runs a little better than Out of This World, but it still has tons of slowdown. Definitely prefer the Genesis versions of these games. -

ActRaiser is complete. I've lost track of how many times I've beaten this game, but I never seem to get tired of it. Not too long, but not too short either. -
Castlevania was mine as well until recently. I found this awesome video on YouTube. He goes way in-depth covering all the mechanics of the game and strategies to get through every area, and it was a huge help for me to finally beat it.

Poll: For how long do you typically play a game you enjoy?
cj_robot replied to RH's topic in The Gauntlet
Lol I feel better knowing I'm not the only one that had trouble with Ratchet and Clank! It drives me absolutely insane when I get all the way to the final boss of a game and can't finish it. -

Blast Corps was one of my favorite N64 games. Always wished they made another one. Also, I miss space combat "sims" like X-Wing, Wing Commander, Colony Wars, etc. If they even just remastered X-Wing or TIE Fighter with modern graphics I'd be in heaven!

I usually have several going at once. Currently working on: Chrono Trigger for the umpteenth time, trying to get through Wind Waker for then first time (not loving it like I thought I would, tbh), working on getting the Platinum for Wolfenstein: The New Order, blazing through my first Switch game, The Longest Five Minutes (interesting concept, but kinda disappointing overall), and for some reason I've been trying to beat Super Thunder Blade on the Genesis. It's not really much fun, but I feel like it's beatable if I could just stop screwing up, and that compells me to keep trying. Why do I torture myself?

Agree on all points, especially the soundtrack being amazing. I actually had some of the town music play while guests were seating at my wedding.

Air Fortress was a game I used to enjoy back in the day. Each level started as a horizontal shooter, then you'd enter the enemy fortress and the second half of the level became a free-roaming adventure to find the core, destroy it, and then find the exit before the place exploded. It was the first game I played that made me feel I was on an adventure rather than just playing a video game.

Mine would be Phantasy Star hands down. Always loved the sci-fi elements. Favorites of all time would be: Chrono Trigger FF VI Suikoden II ... and if we're counting Strategy RPGs then I loved Front Mission 3, FF Tactics and the whole Shining Force series.

Thought I'd check this place out. Not into collecting any more, but still totally into playing classic games and exploring video game history.
