  1. No, I haven't used the continue code. I haven't played it in a while since I got bored / annoyed with it, but I had been practicing the later levels with save states. I'll pick it up again tomorrow.
  2. No, you either cook with them or use the rinds as garnish or chopped into things like salad dressings or sauces. You've never made preserved lemons before? Great for middle eastern type cooking
  3. PIckle / preserve them. All you need is some Kosher salt, and throw in some cloves too if you have them
  4. I've never had a Playstation of any type before, so I'm curious about a few things about the PS2: 1) Are the PS2 consoles holding up well? It looks like the earlier Fat type are the way to go for modding and hard drive use. 2) Are the CDs nearing their end life (bit rot, decay, etc.)? 3) Can you play PS1 games on a HDD, or do you need to use the CD drive? 4) If one goes the emulation route, are any of those aftermarket PS2 controllers with USB like the real thing, or is using OEM controllers and one of those adapter to USB things the way to go? I think I've played a PS2 maybe once it my life but maybe it's time to try some modern games I never got around to like Final Fantasy X and XII
  5. At least 6 or 7 of those aren't uncommon today, especially in British English. I always have heard kedge as a nautical term, though. Cimcumbendibus is a nice Johnsonese or Dickensian nonsense word. Scranch is the only one I've truly never seen before.
  6. I'm not even in IT or programming, other than SQL queries to pull data from the company databases or one-off munging with Python, and I have been roped into the JIRA nightmare at my company. Please make it stop
  7. If you have specific questions about programming concepts or Java syntax, then StackOverflow is a much better place to search and then ask if you don't find your question has already been answered (unlikely for Java). I bet a lot of the code around pulling data from Ebay is already well documented elsewhere. It's not clear what sort of program you're trying to write and it sounds like you have almost no Java or Javascript knowledge so I can see why people are hesitant to "help" (i.e. write your program for you) Good luck!
  8. Yeah, I've only been here about a year and a half, and never sought it out. But I'll give it a try sometime
  9. I've never had Johnny Marzetti, but you guys are welcome to come up to Columbus and rag on food anytime
  10. You guys are tripping. My favorite part is when it sits for a minute, and all the liquid forms a fetid, noisome pool at the bottom of the plate, leaving the chili and spaghetti dry and flavorless.
  11. @Sumer @Bearcat-Doug You guys missed the real atrocity of Cincinnati cuisine - Cincinatti style chili. Never has a more egregious culinary abomination been foisted upon an unsuspecting populace. Take some mediocre chili, splat it on top of some overcooked generic spaghetti, and then try to cover the abomination with a pound of industrial shredded cheddar cheese. I'd say it's the worst regional dish in America, and that includes those obnoxious Primanti's sandwiches doused in french fries.
  12. Definitely a learning curve with Solomon's key, but I'm memorizing the levels enough that I should be able to finish it by next weekend
  13. Chicken feet are one of the best Cantonese dim sum dishes. Every time I make it to Hong Kong, I go through at least a couple of steamers (or whatever those bamboo things are called) of them.
  14. You have to sell yourself to get a foot in the door and then fake it until you can make it. Don't diss your own degree. I think engineering employers will value someone who can write well, but it's up to you on that. I have contacted some hiring managers directly in addition to applying via the normal process. RH gives some good advice on some extra work to put in instead of passively applying to jobs. I understand your circumstances since I was unemployed for 2 years back in 2016-2018. I had a few interviews that went nowhere since I had the stink of desperation on me, but finally reached out to someone I had worked with before, interviewed for a job way below my experience and yet also only tangentially related to my profession. After about a year of trying to learn a ton of new skills all at once, I had built up a good reputation and got the chance to get back into my line of work when someone else left the company.
  15. Don't put too much stock into the 3 year requirement. Apply and include a nice cover letter and see what happens. Almost every job post lists "requirements" that are more desired than required. With a legit engineering degree and lots of opportunities around your area, you should get some hits.
  16. I have a couple certifications, but they are directly and pretty uniquely tied to my profession, and earned them over a few years while working in my field. I agree with RH for the most part on this. Lean Six Sigma and the freaking belts were huge back in the early 2010s, but I haven't heard anyone talk about it in 4-5 years now. Maybe it's still relevant in the factory setting. "Agile" is the latest garbage concept that asshats think is the Next Big Thing. Paying for a generic certification like Six Sigma or PMP isn't going to get you any advantage on getting your first job. If you don't mind sharing what field you're looking to get into, that would get you some more specific guidance from others.
  17. Oh man, I would love to see that. Lionheart is classic JCVD.
  18. Solomon's Key is going to be a long one. I'm guessing I just need to save state practice the levels until I get the muscle memory to beat it.
  19. Bases Loaded is my other option, but I'm happy to cede it to Solomon's Key. Better get started on the season, my friend!
  20. Is anyone actively playing Solomon's Key? I saw some runs online and it doesn't look _that_ hard, right?
  21. I hope GME pulls through so a ton of people don't lose their jobs. I still wouldn't mess with it. I did a lot better just plowing money into the S&P index near the bottom since that was a once in a decade buying opportunity. My own company's stock is in the toilet. Thankfully I don't have any more invested than just what I put in through the ESPP, but it's really fisting a whale eye at the moment
  22. I just posted a bunch of actual video game porn parody movies in some other thread about a week ago, but I can't let the NES discussion go without proffering Monster in my Pocket. @PIIyou dropped the ball on that one sucka! I actually watched Super Hornio Bros 1 and 2 and they are as bad as advertised. Looked around on retro vintage porn sites for Princess of Persia (the 1993 Tanya Summers version) but I never found a rip of it
  23. This list makes no sense. No one defends the Nintendo Universe better than the daimyos from Nobunaga's Ambition, Chinese generals from Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and French generals from L'Empereur, so this list is clearly invalid. FYI for the villain list - Wellington, Blucher and Kutusov are clearly villains in the L'Empereur universe since they tried to thwart Napoleon.
  24. You guys are supposed to be playing games on the 2020 list!
  25. What did you think of it? I really enjoyed it, but didn't have the patience/time to play it without a walkthrough.
